Description and Background
Description:
A tall, robust man of prodigious girth and equally prodigious appetite, Thundrigore has more the look of a burly tavern keeper, than a wizard. Scorning the customary "mummers trappings" of robes and hooded cloaks worn by most in his profession, Thund wears a simple vest over his broad, bare chest, and plain linen trousers tucked into sturdy boots, with a wide leather belt to hold them up, from which dangle a multitude of pouches, scroll cases and daggers.
A man of action who craves excitement, adventure, and the "thunder" of spell battle, Thundrigore can be loud, bombastic, and more than a little abrasive. Firmly neutral in alignment, he finds discussions of ethics to be a crashing bore and refuses to become entangled in what he refers to as "Pseudo-philosophical Claptrap". His own philosophy might be best described as follows: "When in doubt, blast them all and let the gods sort them out."
Background:
Born to a family of bakers in the Free City of Greyhawk, Thundrigore spent more time eating pastries than he did making them. Keenly intelligent and with a reckless hunger for adventure, Thund traumatized his parents by spending much time brawling, gambling and drinking in Old Cities seedier establishments.
His debauchery paid dividends, however. In one particularly good run of cards, Thund won a fortune in gold from a careless wizard who had bet his entire purse on an ill-made bluff. Thund made the wizard an offer: He could keep his gold and take Thundrigore on as an apprentice for a year. The wizard happily accepted and, a year later, he and his master parted ways and Thundrigore set forth in the world to seek excitement and adventure. |
